Permit rules
QuotaA wilderness permit is required year-round for overnight backpacking; May 1 - October 31 sites are reserved in advance and winter trips are issued as walk-ups.
Group1-7 people at individual sites; parties of 8-12 must use designated group sites.
Fees$36 per trip May 1 - October 31; $10 per trip November 1 - April 30. Non-refundable.
TransferPermits must be picked up in person at a Wilderness Office; bear canisters are required.
