Permit rules
QuotaA climbing permit is required year-round for anyone traveling above 9,500 feet; there is no limit on the number of permits issued.
GroupEach climber needs a permit; at least one party member must carry copies for the group.
Fees$20 single-trip (3-day) permit or $50 annual permit.
TransferPermits are issued per climber and are valid immediately on purchase.
SafetyCrevasses, fumaroles, falling ice, and rapidly changing weather make this a technical climb; most ascents happen in spring.
