Permit rules
QuotaA Mt. Adams Climbing Pass is required May 1 - September 30 for everyone 16 and older traveling above 7,000 feet; there is no daily quota. October through April requires only a free self-issued wilderness permit.
GroupMaximum group size is 12, including pack and saddle stock.
FeesClimbing pass fees apply during the permit season; under 16 free.
TransferPasses are issued per climber and are not transferable.
SafetySteep snow, rockfall, sudden weather, and route-finding above the Lunch Counter require mountaineering preparation.
