Permit rules
QuotaA backcountry overnight permit is required year-round. 75% of each location's quota is reservable online up to 90 days in advance; the remaining 25% is held for in-person pickup starting 7 days before entry. Day-use permits are not required.
GroupMaximum group size is 12 people together at any time during the trip.
Fees$10 per permit (same for reserved and walk-up); park entrance fee also required.
TransferA signed permit must be carried at all times by the group leader.
SafetyPermit holders must check in at the Backcountry Office for a safety briefing before their trip; campfires are prohibited, though camp stoves with an on/off valve are allowed.
