How to get a permit
Permit rules
QuotaWilderness permits are required for all overnight backcountry camping at designated chickee, ground, and beach sites. Most sites are water-access only.
GroupChickee platforms hold a maximum of 6 people or 1 group per platform; ground and beach sites accommodate larger and multiple parties.
Fees$21 non-refundable permit reservation fee per trip plus $2 per person, per night. Park entrance fee is separate.
TransferOne permit per trip; the reservation confirmation serves as the permit.
SafetyMost campsites are water-access only; plan tides, weather, and navigation carefully. Feeding wildlife is prohibited; practice Leave No Trace and pack out all waste.
