Permit rules
QuotaA backcountry permit is required year-round for overnight stays in designated backcountry campsites along the Under-the-Rim Trail (7 campsites) and Riggs Spring Loop Trail (3 campsites plus 1 group site).
GroupMaximum 6 people per regular campsite; up to 15 people per group site.
Fees$10.00 non-refundable reservation fee plus $5 per person recreation fee. A separate park entrance fee is required.
TransferAfter booking online, the physical permit must be obtained in person from a ranger at the Bryce Canyon Visitor Center within two days of the trip start date.
SafetyBear canisters are mandatory and available free at the Visitor Center. Carry a topographic map, compass, extra clothing, food, water, and rain gear; elevations range from about 6,800 to 9,115 feet.
